An easy-to-play game and process that teach skills for building healthy social and emotional well-being.

The I Can Relate Game™ builds relationship skills that help people relate to others with empathy, understanding, and respect. By encouraging players to “put themselves in someone else’s shoes,” the I Can Relate Game teaches skills to become more self-aware, more mindful of feelings and needs, and to develop more empathy toward others and themselves. Children and adults practice the relationship skills of listening to stories and situations, naming feelings, identifying needs, and showing empathy and kindness — without being aware of the learning process.

The 4-Step I Can Relate Process

The process taught in Adventures in Heartache, Humor and Hope, in the I Can Relate Game™, and in training sessions is built upon a variety of well-established social-science, theological, and philosophical studies.

The process teaches awareness and relationship skills that include listening to stories, expressing feelings, identifying needs, and responding by connecting the needs with empathy and kind actions.
