“Children become what they practice. As children make guesses about how other children feel and what they need, they are practicing relationship skills that help them show empathy and kind actions.”
~ Dr. Beverly Lonsbury
The I Can Relate Game for 3-9 year-old children has the same 4-step process used with older children and adults. This “kid-friendly” version includes a game board that encourages children to play as they move around the board listening to age-appropriate stories and exploring the feelings, needs, and kind actions of other children. Stickers are used to show progress after each Story Card is completed.
There are many ways to play the I Can Relate Game:
“Layla’s grandparents started playing the I Can Relate game with her 11 months ago. It is amazing to see how huge her vocabulary of feelings has become–and how clearly she can tell us what she needs. Yes, that’s Layla in the pictures showing a few of the many feelings she can ‘show me’ and describe! Layla is now not even 4 and she has scored at a level higher than a 5 1/2 year old child in her language ability assessments. I highly recommend the I Can Relate Game to parents and grandparents who want to give their children a head start in school and in life!”

“I’m feeling confused and I need help!”
“I’m feeling lonely and I need you to stay here.”
